The Internet of Things

At E2E, we enjoy finding out more about emerging technologies that have the potential to improve businesses. The Internet of Things (IoT), is a great example of this. The IoT is the networking of a physical object through the use of embedded sensors, actuators, and other devices that can collect or transmit information about the object. These include, smart phones controlled lights, thermostats and fitness bracelets, which all connect to the internet to collect and exchange data.

The IoT is thought to be the ‘next Industrial Revolution’ because of the huge demand for devices that can change the way people live, work, entertain, and travel. It is predicted that by 2020, there will be 24 billion devices installed in the market, with 11.2 billion in businesses and a total of 6 trillion dollars will be invested in IoT solutions over the coming years. The demand for the IoT has only increased as consumer and businesses work remotely and need constant access to the internet. At E2E, we find it very interesting to watch the technology space develop and are excited to find out what happens next.
