Snapchat has rapidly become one of the most successful global sharing apps, with an average of 100 million users sending approximately 8 billion images a day. The app is used as a common tool for friends to share photos that disappear in a space of 10 seconds. Recognising the success of the app, businesses and brands have attempted to reach out to wider audiences by using Snapchat as a marketing tool, specifically when reaching ‘millennials’ as, statistically, they are the group that use Snapchat most regularly.
The app can be used by business in a number of ways. Some of the most widely used examples include:
· Sharing brand messages
· Promoting a company competition
· Showcasing a ‘day in the life’ of the company through Snapchat stories.
· Collaborating with influencers such as Bloggers or YouTube celebrities to boost authenticity.
Snapchat is an example of an increasingly popular form of advertising which combines engagement with creativity, targeting people far more directly and personally than other forms of mobile focused marketing. Does your company have a Snapchat account? If not, do you think it would be a good way to reach your target market?
