Hugh has worked in the technology sector since 1976, originally as an analyst/programmer on both IBM and ICL mainframes.
In 1979, he joined Apple as part of a small team that launched the original Apple II Computer in the UK.
In 1985, he established Taxan in Europe. In an 18-year period at the helm, the business sold more than 5 million monitors and graphics adapters with turnover exceeding $100 million per annum.
His personal goal to own and manage his own business was achieved in 2003 when he founded TrustedReviews.com. In 2005, he acquired bittech.net. Both digital publications became market leaders in their respective sectors. He sold TrustedReviews.com in October 2007 to Time Warner/IPC Media and bit-tech.net in October 2008 to Dennis Publishing.
Hugh has since been involved with many start-ups and scale-ups as an investor and/or advisor. He has also worked with more established companies using his considerable experience to provide advice and an independent voice.
His portfolio as an investor and/or advisor includes LADbible, Cloudshift, BGF, JustPark, Parkopedia, Time Out, Dennis Publishing, MyVoucherCodes, Vashi, Centtrip, MyUKFirst, and EVIOS.
Hugh has devoted a considerable amount of his time in a voluntary capacity, working with individuals, educational establishments, and entrepreneurial groups to help entrepreneurs develop their ideas into reality and success.
