About the Event

E2E are bringing together the UK’s leading entrepreneurs for an exclusive Leaders’ breakfast at the House of Lords. This time, our event will take place virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.
This will allow E2E to bring together members of our entrepreneurial community and give them the opportunity to engage with and benefit from the experiences of high-profile successful business leaders.
The Board, the team and I are delighted to invite you to this virtual event and to give you unprecedented access to two of the UK’s most successful business leaders: Rita Clifton CBE and Lord Bilimoria CBE. DL.
On this occasion we are proud to be partnering with The UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur Programme which focuses on attracting high growth international businesses into the UK. We are excited that The Head of the Programme: Derek Goodwin will also be speaking!
Our focus over breakfast will be ‘How to Build a Global Brand From The UK during this time of Covid.’
Our guest-speakers are:
Rita Clifton CBE has been called ‘Brand guru’ by the Financial Times and ‘The doyenne of branding’ by Campaign magazine.
Her career has included being a Vice-Chairman at Saatchi & Saatchi, as London CEO and Chairman at the global brand consultancy Interbrand and as Co-founder of BrandCap. She is also a portfolio Chairman and Non-Executive Director on the board of businesses including ASOS and Nationwide Building Society, and her non-profit boards have included WWF and the Sustainable Development Commission.
Derek Goodwin is the Head of Entrepreneurship and The Global Entrepreneur Programme, DIT
After a successful spell working in the US tech sector, Derek set up DIT’s pioneering Global Entrepreneur Programme in 2004 and has been responsible for attracting nearly 1000 innovative and fast growth technology start-ups and scale ups to the UK. These internationally mobile companies have relocated to scale and internationalise from a UK HQ and their success has helped them raise up to £1bn in equity funding and create over 9000 high value jobs.

Derek Goodwin
Head of Entrepreneurship and The Global Entrepreneur Programme, DIT
Derek has spent more than 30 years creating and leading strategic global innovation initiatives on behalf of the UK Government and the private sector which have provided significant economic development benefits including many hundreds of investments and several thousands of jobs.
Derek also played a major role in establishing the Tech City cluster in London, serving as the first Chief Operating Officer of UKTI’s Tech City Investment Organisation (now Technation). This was set up in 2010 to support the development of the East London tech cluster and his work on this immensely successful initiative helped propel Tech City to become the digital capital of Europe.

Shalini Khemka

Shalini founded E2E in 2011. Her mission was to develop the largest and most active entrepreneurial community in the UK to enable extraordinary connections for entrepreneurs.
Under Shalini’s guidance E2E has become a trusted entrepreneurial community which has one objective: to unlock the full potential of ambitious entrepreneurial businesses by enabling extraordinary connections. It has developed into an exciting and thriving powerhouse of international entrepreneurs, investors and entrepreneurial non-execs, coupled with access to globally leading corporate services. E2E’s ecosystem has ambition and innovation at its core.
Shalini is also a Deal Maker for the UK Government, a Member of the Mayor of London’s Business Advisory Board, a Non-Executive Director of UK Export Finance (UKEF), a Fellow of Burton & South Derbyshire College and a Judge for The Great British Entrepreneurial Awards. Before establishing E2E, Shalini co-founded the world’s first bank to bank trade finance platform. She was an Investment Director at LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyd’s Banking Group and held finance related roles at Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust, Natwest Bank and Coopers & Lybrand.

Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, DL
Co-Founder of Cobra Beer, Chancellor of Birmingham University and Board Director, E2E
Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, DL is the founder of Cobra Beer, Chairman of the Cobra Beer Partnership Limited, a Joint Venture with Molson Coors, and Chairman of Molson Coors Cobra India. Lord Bilimoria is the Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council, a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London, Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, and a former Chancellor of Thames Valley University (now the University of West London) – the youngest University Chancellor in the UK when appointed and a Board Director, E2E.
Karan was a former Senior Non-Executive Director of the Booker Group now TESCO PLC (2007-2016); he is one of the first two visiting entrepreneurs at the University of Cambridge; and a founding member of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council. In 2006, Karan was appointed the Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea, making him the first ever Zoroastrian Parsi to sit in the House of Lords. In 2008 he was awarded the Pravasi Bharti Samman by the President of India.
He is an honorary fellow of Sidney Sussex College Cambridge and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Judge Business School, Cambridge University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young and graduated in law from the University of Cambridge.
He is also an alumnus through executive education of the Cranfield School of Management, London Business School and Harvard Business School. In July 2014, he was installed as the seventh Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, making him the first Indian-born Chancellor of a Russell Group University in Great Britain. Karan is also the President of the UK Council for International Students Affairs (UKCISA). Since 2017 Lord Bilimoria has been a Bynum Tudor Fellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford.
Lord Bilimoria was elected Vice President at the CBI Annual General Meeting on 18 June 2019.
